2) Tap water iontophoresis (very effective for foot sweat)

Tap water iontophoresis uses direct current via water baths; it probably functionally inhibits sweat gland function. This direct current procedure stimulates and calms the nerves at the sweat glands.

  • effective especially on hands/feet


3) Treatment of germs (if odor is the primary concern)

  • change more frequently (2x/day if needed)
  • materials that wick away moisture are good (merino, functional fibers; cotton is ok, but can "stay wet")

  • Activated carbon/cedar wood insoles can bind odor but do not address the cause.

  • Zinc cream/baby cream: Zinc can soothe, but many creams are occlusive → rather counterproductive for sweating.
  • Cat litter in shoes: absorbs moisture, but is unhygienic/dusty; better: silica gel/shoe dryer.
